The Foster Family
Hello, my name is Gayla Foster and I teach 5th grade Science. I have been teaching for 18 years – the last 9 years have been teaching science. This is my seventh year in Pickens County. My husband David and I have 10 children between us. I have 5 of my own and 5 step children. However, we prefer not to use the term ”step” child because they are all “our” children. Their ages range from 9 to 30. Four of our children are married. We have 1 child in college and one 10-year-old who is in fourth grade this year at Harmony. We have 3 grandchildren - 2 granddaughters, one who is 3 1/2 years old, and one who is 1 1/2 year old. We have one grandson who is 1 year old — AND we just found out we will be adding another grandchild to our family in the spring. We don’t know whether it is a granddaughter or a grandson yet, but we will keep you posted! We love spending time with our family.
We also have our animal family which consist of 2 dogs a dachshund and a Husky. We have 4 cats, 3 fish, 2 goats, and some chickens and ducks!

Hobbies
My hobbies include spending time with my wonderful husband, children and grandchildren. We enjoy swimming, shelling, gardening, sitting on the deck, and making homemade jams and jellies. My favorite colors are purple and blue. My favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake, and my favorite time of year is summer! My favorite vacation spot this year was Walt Disney World. Of course my favorite holiday is CHRISTMAS!
I like to make homemade jams and jellys and in the summer I like to grow a big garden with my Dad.
Here are some of my favorite pictures doing my favorite things — just being my my family — my husband, my children and my grandchildren.
