5th Grade

We start Chapter 7 Thursday, November 12.  This is one of my favorite!  The theme is inherited traits or genetics.  I like to use my favorite cartoon character and his friends for this study SPONGE BOB!  We will have lots of fun and by the time we finish this chapter, students will have a much better understanding of how and what traits are inherited.  Our project will come from this chapter and will all be done in class.  Students will be designing robot baby faces using the probability found in heredity.  These projects will be displayed in the hallway in the “Baby Face Nursery”.  This is sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face!

Our next 4-H meeting will be Tuesday, December 15th.  Keep collecting POP TABS.  Our community service project is collecting aluminum pop tabs of all kinds to recycle.  The money received from these pop tabs will then be donated to help support the Ronald McDonald House.  All 5th grade classes in the county compete to see who can collect the most.  The class with the most wins an ice cream party in May and their picture in the Pickens Progress.                 Sponge Bob Turkey Day Greeting Preview         As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Email is the fastest way for me to respond back to you.  My email address is gaylafoster@pickens.k12.ga.us.   If you call the school, you will need to leave a message on my voice mail.  I will not be able to return your call until the end of the school day.
